11:00 am–12:00 pm Tracy Schwarz Cajun Jam This is your chance to play Cajun music with Tracy Schwarz, known for playing and singing with Ginny Hawker and the New Lost City Ramblers. Folks from Elkins will facilitate.
11:00 am–12:30 pm Norma Venable Lap Dulcimer — Beginner No previous music background required. Short history of mountain dulcimer followed by learning to play several simple songs. Dulcimers available for loan during class.

11:00 am–12:30 pm Chris Haddox Guitar — Beginner
11:00 am–12:30 pm Katie McCoy Fiddle — Beginner For complete beginners. Bring a fiddle or borrow one at the workshop. We'll go over how to hold the fiddle and bow, names of the strings, tuning, fingering, and more, and then we will learn “Boil 'Em Cabbage Down.”
12:00–1:00 pm Kim Forry and Jan Scopel Appalachian Flat Foot Dancing This flatfooting and clogging workshop by Kim Hughes Forry and Jan Scopel (aka STEP JAM) is a sole-satisfying experience for the entire family and friends, every age and experience level. Spice up your square dance game with some cool step dance moves.

12:45–2:15 pm Dave Haas Lap dulcimer — Playing smoothly Novice to Intermediate. DAD tuning. Improve your strum and fingering to facilitate smooth play. Learn backup chords to accompany other players.
12:45–2:15 pm Stephen Rapp Clawhammer Banjo — Beginner to Intermediate Beginner friendly, some things of interest to intermediate players. The focus will be on some of the common and not so common left hand embellishments, to give participants a set of tools to create more interesting arrangements.
12:45–2:15 pm Snappin' Bug Pennsylvania Tunes Jam A jam of SW Pennsylvania tunes from the collections of Samuel Bayard, for intermediate fiddle players and other instruments. Hosted by Mark Tamsula and Snappin' Bug.
2:00–3:00 pm Kim Forry and Jan Scopel Appalachian Flat Foot Dancing This flatfooting and clogging workshop by Kim Hughes Forry and Jan Scopel (aka STEP JAM) is a sole-satisfying experience for the entire family and friends, every age and experience level. 2:30–4:00 pm Dave Haas Lap Dulcimer — Intro to Arpeggios Novice-Intermediate. DAD tuning. Play slow songs beautifully by plucking the strings one-at-a-time. Learn backup chords to accompany others playing slowly.
2:30–4:00 pm John Posey Guitar — Intermediate
2:30–4:00 pm Alice Fleischman Intro to Irish Pennywhistle History and introduction to playing. Students need to bring their own instruments but a few extra “D” whistles will be available.
2:30–4:00 pm Jeff Fedan Hammered Dulcimer — Intermediate
3:00–4:00 pm Tracy Schwarz Old-Time Jam This is your chance to play old-time music with Tracy Schwarz, known for playing and singing with Ginny Hawker and the New Lost City Ramblers. Folks from Elkins will facilitate.
4:30–6:00 pm Wally Venable Lap dulcimer in Minor Key We will use DAA tuning and Capo 1. Advanced beginners. Be able to play simple tunes in DAA. Dulcimers and capos will be available at the workshop.
4:30–6:00 pm Mike Broderick Podorythmie Foot Percussion French Canadian foot tapping used as percussion while playing tunes. (You do it sitting down).
4:30–6:00 pm Katie McCoy and Richard Eddy Fiddle maintenance and repair For the fiddle player or woodworker who wants to know a little bit about maintaining and repairing their instruments. The workshop will also include a hands-on portion where you can help set up a fiddle.
4:30–6:00 pm Ryan Brandenburg Clawhammer Banjo — Intermediate Drop thumb skills.
4:30–6:00 pm Ed McDonald Music Festival Oral History Drop by to share stories of the Gardner Winter Music festival and the larger role that roots music plays in your life. Conversations will be archived for possible incorporation into an audio documentary.
4:30–6:00 pm Ron and Gray Buchanan Square Dance Calling
